Peda is a sweet made from mawa/khoya aka milk solids. The traditional way of making peda is tedious and long. Basically to make peda from scratch, you would need to start with whole milk. You would then cook that milk for hours until only the solids remain. The milk solids also known as mawa or khoya. But here is an easier way to cook peda using Milk Powder.

INGREDIENTS
For Instance Khowa
● 1 tsp, Ghee { clarified butter}
● 1 cup, Milk
● 2 cup, Milk Powder
Other Ingredients
● 1 tsp, Ghee {clarified butter}
● 6 tbsp, Milk
● 1⁄2 cup, Powdered Sugar
● 1⁄4 tsp, Nutmeg Powder
● 1⁄4 tsp Cardamom Powder
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Firstly, in a large kadai heat 1 tsp ghee and add 1 cup milk.
2. Next, add 2 cup milk powder and mix well while breaking any lumps.
3. On a low flame, stir continuously.
4. After some time, the mixture starts to thicken.
5. After 10 minutes, the mixture starts to separate from the pan.
6. Keep mixing until it forms a lump and finally, instant mawa is ready.
7. Now add 1 tsp of ghee and break mawa into pieces.
8. Cook until the mawa turns to crumble texture.
9. Once the mixture turns dry, add 2 tbsp milk.
10. Continue to saute on medium flame.
11. After 40 minutes the mixture starts to change colour.
12. Continue to cook until the mixture turns dark golden brown.
13. Let it cool slightly and blend to a coarse powder.
14. Now add 1⁄2 cup powdered sugar, 1⁄4 tsp nutmeg powder and 1⁄4 tsp cardamom
powder.
15. Mix well making sure everything is well combined.
16. Further, add 2 tbsp milk and mix well.
17. Form a moist mixture adding milk as required.
18. Rake a ball sized peda mixture and share well.
19. Finally, enjoy mathura peda or refrigerate and serve up to a week.
