Idli Bomb Recipe || Steamed Sooji Nashta with spicy stuffing

If you love fermented foods and understand the immense benefits they bring to your health, you should be making Idli, a five-ingredient dish that originated in south India and has dug roots in kitchens across the rest of India and in Indian kitchens around the world. This recipe is a little bit different from traditional idli you are used to. In this recipe the idli is stuffed with boiled potatoes and some more ingredients. It can be eaten as a breakfast or snack in the evening.

Now on how to make idli bomb, here are the ingredients required and step by step instructions :-

 

INGREDIENTS

For Batter

● 300gm, Suji

● 2⁄3rd cup, Curd {Dahi}

● 1⁄2 cup, Water

● 2 Green Chilli, {finely chopped}

● 1⁄2 tsp, Salt

● 1 tbsp, Eno/ Baking Soda

● 1 tbsp, Water


For Stuffing

● 2 tsp, Oil

● 1⁄2 tsp, Black Mustard Seeds {Sarso}

● 1⁄4 th tsp, Turmeric {Haldi}

● 1 Green Chilli, { chopped }

● 3 Boiled Potatoes {Mashed}

● 1⁄2 tsp, Salt

● 1⁄2 tsp, Red Chilli Powder

● 1⁄4 tsp, Dry Mango {Amchur}


For Tadka

● 2 tsp, Oil

● 1⁄2 tsp, Black Mustard Seeds {Sarso}

● 1⁄4 tsp, Salt

● 1⁄4 tsp, Red Chilli Powder


INSTRUCTIONS

For Batter

1. Firstly, take 300gm suji into a large mixing bowl.

2. Next, add 2⁄3 cup of curd and mix well till both combined.

3. Further, add 1⁄2 cup water and mix well til the mixture turns slightly liquid. ( Can add

more water if required ).

4. Add 2 finely chopped green chilli along with 1⁄2 tsp salt and mix well.

5. And cover for 10 minutes.

6. After 10 minutes the batter turns a bit thick.

7. Lastly, add 1 tbsp eno/ baking soda into the batter along with 1 tbsp water and mix well.


For Stuffing

1. Firstly, add 2 tsp Oil into a frying pan/ kadai.

2. Now add 1⁄2 tsp black mustard seeds, 1⁄4 tsp turmeric, 1 chopped green chilli and saute

well.

3. Now, add 3 boiled mashed potatoes, saute well.

4. Next add 1⁄2 tsp of salt, 1⁄2 tsp red chilli powder, 1⁄4 tsp dry mango (Amchur) and mix well.

5. Now grease hands with oil / ghee and form small balls of the stuffing.


To Bake

1. Now take a small cups and grease it.

2. Add 2-3 spoons of batter to it and add the stuffing ball ( do not push deep ).

3. Next place more 2-3 spoons of batter into the cups.

4. At last let it steam for 15 minutes.


For Tadka

1. Now, add 2 tsp of oil into the frying pan along with 1⁄2 tsp salt, 1⁄4 tsp black mustard

seeds, 1⁄4 tsp red chilli powder and saute well.

2. Next, put the steamed idlis into the pan and mix well.

3. Finally, put the idli bomb inta a plate and serve it with sauce/ chutney.
